Minister Ph.D Narumon has present the topic of ASEAN Food Safety Coordinating Agreement into the meeting in Council of Thailand in the past March. Her main point is to revise the agreement of ASEAN Food Safety Regulatory Framework Agreement in order to levitate quality of food of ASEAN consumers. And, after the agreement has been arranged, they will organise the Committee of ASEAN Food Safety as an important legal assistance with the main goal is to protect and increase safety of consumers and support convenient food exporting between ASEAN.
The agreement of ASEAN food safety will help Thailand improve and develop standard of exporting that will reduce turndown product, and by increasing standard of Thailand’s export, it will increase more chance for Thai’s product to reach nearby ASEAN countries more efficiently.
“Thailand is the major food exporter in ASEAN, which many ASEAN countries importing their food mainly from Thailand as well. Therefore, by completing the ASEAN Food Safety Agreement and Framework will help Thailand have better standards of exporting that come together with a better chance to expand food exporting from Thailand to other ASEAN and international countries” according to Minister Ph.D. Narumon (2025).
During the meeting in the Council of Thailand, most of the ministers have an opinion in the same way that ASEAN Food Safety Regulatory Framework Agreement will help Thai develop and improve exporting standard and safety of exported products to other countries with less chance to have turndown product issues as before.
And by levitating the standard quality of food and safety of exported product from Thailand, it will help Thai’s exporting part to have a higher chance to expand into other ASEAN countries and develop Thai’s product to be a more international and central product. And this will also benefit Thai producers to have a chance to reach the international market by developing and improving standard of exporting product.
